How To Wear A Statement Skirt

A statement skirt is skirt with an impact; think of it as a skirt with the WOW factor. An embellished skirt, lace skirt, bold print or brightly coloured skirt could in fact all be statement skirts. Our design team have seen a lot of coordinated separates on the catwalk, and statement skirts with complimenting shell tops and tunics – I think the secret to wearing one every day is to dissect the looks and wear with a more casual top, like a cashmere jumper.

And how long should it be? Absolutely not an essential addition, in fact a flat shoe (especially in the day) can help dress down your statement skirt to make it more wearable and appropriate for the day. Having said that I love heels and often wear my statement skirts a round toe court shoe in black or a contrasting colour. Chunky heeled sandals (perfect for spring) are a good option too – avoid stilettos, too fussy.

Here, at Nougat we are a big fan of the Jumper with Pleat Hem and Detachable Collar, but a soft colour like pastel blue or pink could also work. My favourite is the Flower Print Cardigan at a sale affordable price of £50.75. If your work requires a more tailored approach crisp white shirt tucked in at the waist is always a chic alternative. And finally if out and bout, wear with a chic knee length cardigan, that’s always a winning look.

...And up for a night out? Just add heels and a statement necklace or statement earrings and you are good to go! So a great look if you have a busy day and no time to go home and change after work.
