Our Favourite Christmas Markets in London

Despite November not being over just yet, London has already started the Christmas festivities. Not only have the decorations and lights been up for a couple of weeks now but the opening of dozens of Christmas markets has now began to add to the magic. A great place to shop for unique handcrafted gifts, hear carol singing and enjoy traditional Christmas treats such as mulled wine and mince pies; there is really nothing more joyful during this cold time of year. With so many markets to choose from, it’s hard to decide where to head first. To make the choice a little bit easier, we have decided to put together our top 5.

Christmas Market at Tate Modern

Set in a magical location between the Tate Modern and the Thames, this market features numerous stalls to get you in the festive spirit. Perfect for the whole family; not only will you be given the chance to shop but children will also get the opportunity to visit Santa’s Grotto and enjoy riding on the beautiful Victorian carousel.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

The Hyde park Winter Wonderland is a hit every year. A whole load of family fun, this one is to be enjoyed by everyone. Complete with the largest outdoors ice rink in the UK, two circuses, and the Magical Ice Kingdom, there’s enough entertainment to last you a few visits. As well as all this, you can shop for gifts and festive treats at those traditional wooden chalets or enjoy a Christmas drink at the themed bars.

London Bridge Christmas Market

Best known for its delicious food and traditional German chalets, this annual market features over 100 independent traders and pop ups selling food and drinks. The opening of this Christmas market will be held on 30th November and will commence at 16:30 with bridge to bridge carolling to get you in that festive mood. The primary school choirs will then head on over to Hay’s Galleria where a beautiful Christmas tree will be switched on at 18:00. From here onwards you can enjoy a ‘Winter Dream’ full of delicious pop ups serving hot chocolate and mulled wine. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to cosy up to Christmas films including ‘Love Actually’ and ‘Home Alone’. Be sure to keep an eye out for an array of other activities from the Christmas Jumper Snowday photo booth to the London Bridge City Elpless elves Trail.

Mayfair Christmas Market

This year the delightful Italian restaurant Novikov will be hosting the Mayfair Christmas Market. You don’t want to miss out on this sensational experience, as it will be open for one day only on Saturday 28th November. From 10am-9pm, you will be given the opportunity to shop for gorgeous gifts where you will find everything from Christmas decorations to beautiful accessories and luxurious skin care products. Aside from this, you can also expect to feast on freshly baked mince pies and a wide range of delicacies including meat, fish, a selection of cheeses, breads and olives. If you are planning a family day out, we can assure you that children will also be entertained with a visit to Santa’s Grotto.

Royal College of Art Christmas Fete

Crazy about art? You won’t want to miss this one then. Shop for quirky, one of a kind gifts in this indoor market hosted by the student’s union. Expect to find beautiful ceramics, prints, jewellery and art at affordable prices.
