The Nougat spring/summer 2010 collection introduces a delicious fusion of influences - from North African cultures and delicate Japanese Gardens through to exotic Hawaiian flowers – culminating in a fresh, chic and ultra feminine collection.
Cool Spring days start off with warm African earth tones of olive green, chocolate brown and vibrant flame coral, which are complemented, with cooler shades of taupe and vanilla intertwined with dramatic highlights of black. Silk and cotton mix knits adorned with beading in coral or taupe are the perfect cover-up over beautiful geometric silk print dresses. Flower printed twin sets can be teamed with a slim fitted pencil skirt or full contrast stitch skirt, for a feminine and flirty look. And always essential for spring – a trench coat, Nougat have included in a versatile olive green cropped trench which can be worn with a little shift dress or wide leg trousers to keep spring chills and showers at bay.
As the season warms up, colours and prints evoke the serenity of a Japanese Garden where the mood is softer and prettier. A silk and linen mix ‘Peaches’ print coat in rose pink and pale blue would look perfect with a silk georgette tiered dress – how Chanel! Or a long cotton and silk blend cardigan with lace appliqué can be team with slim fitted jeans for a more casual look. A swirly graphic silk chiffon print maxi dress or silk twill shift dress in jade green or rose pink are an easy and elegant options to dazzle.
Now that early summer has arrived thoughts shift to longer days full of sunshine, and this is where Nougat’s signature embroidery and beading comes to the fore. The sweetest strapless cotton dress with contrast bow is perfect for any summer occasion. Dresses and tops in indigo cotton mix are tie dyed and adorned with tiny coloured beads. A King’s Road groovy 60’s style crochet dress is young and fun whilst a silk chiffon, hand painted and sequin top worn with white jeans are very St Tropez.
With days of scorching summer heat and balmy summer nights ahead it is time to up the anti with bright, vivid and punchy colours and prints.
