At last, Pancake Day, one of our favourite childhood celebrations, is now under two weeks away on Tuesday 4th March 2014. And while we’re already dreaming of eating pancakes for dinner, a very special charity is giving us even more reason to tuck in. As if we needed any more reason to indulge, and step-away from our bid to give up sugar, Pancake Day 2014 kicks off the build up to the eagerly awaited Easter holidays and provides us with a guilt-free excuse to empty our cupboards of all things delicious.
But this year, adding in an extra guilt-free factor, a new initiative has launched from the Cardiomyopathy Association, aptly named ‘The Great Pancake Party’. Encouraging us all to throw our own pancake parties to mark the day, the national campaign aims to help increase awareness for heart muscle disease and to raise money to support those who are suffering.
Shockingly, cardiomyopathy is the biggest killer of under 35 year olds in Britain today and is the main reason for the majority of heart transplants today. But it still remains largely unknown. So this Tuesday 4th March 2014, when you’re planning to indulge in your own favourite pancake recipes, why not extend the invite to your family and friends and throw your very own Great Pancake Party.
Personally, it’s all about lemon and sugar pancakes for me, but what will you be having? Visit Greatpancakeparty.co.uk for more information.
